UNLV HOPE Scholars Program Assists Homeless Youth in Clark County

Desert Sage, an auxiliary of Assistance League of Las Vegas, provides new laptop computers through its Help for HOPE Scholars philanthropic program to all incoming students who have been accepted into the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) HOPE Scholars Program.

The UNLV HOPE Scholars Program is a partnership between the Clark County School District (CCSD) Title I HOPE Program, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY), Desert Sage Auxiliary and UNLV.  The Program is specifically designed to assist those students who are CCSD graduating seniors and who qualify as Unaccompanied Homeless Youth in Clark County.  The UNLV HOPE Scholars Program secures year-round housing as well as provides academic and financial support for the students while they are attending UNLV.

Desert Sage Auxiliary participates in the support of the UNLV HOPE Scholars Program by agreeing to provide new laptop computers for each student upon their entrance into the Program.  Additionally, Desert Sage Auxiliary provides gift cards to the students whenever possible to assist them with their personal expenses and daily needs and helps in purchasing students’ textbooks.
