Assistance League of the Chesapeake's® "Kids In Need" uniform program has been awarded a $7,500 Grant by Old Navy, Inc. The "Kids In Need" program provides uniforms to students in Title One elementary schools - those schools with a high percentage of children in need - in Anne Arundel County.
Paul Villareal, store manager of Old Navy, received the "Fisher Award," for Store Excellence from Old Navy's parent company, Gap, Inc. With the partnership of Old Navy, the Chesapeake chapter was able to provide over 850 uniforms this past year to students in five elementary schools in their community. The award includes a grant to be awarded to a non-profit charitable organization in the manager's community. Paul's award was one of the nine given out world-wide this year, only six of which were in North America. Store excellence includes unsurpassed business results, customer care, leadership, and most importantly, community commitment.
Paul developed a partnership with Assistance League of the Chesapeake to help provide the uniform shirts and pants for "Kids In Need." Not only did he provide guidance in setting up an inventory program, he and his staff also supported Assistance League of the Chesapeake's "Make a Difference Day" event, the collection of children's books, and the Assistance League's national philanthropic program.
