ALF Drama -- Drama program taught by professionals for students in grades 5-8, culminating in a performance.
Retired Service Volunteers -- Senior members of the community meet Fridays to prepare mailings and have lunch provided by committee members. Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals assists the chapter with the program.
Summer School -- Five weeks of enrichment classes taught by qualified teachers for students in grades 1-8.
CAP Care Packs -- A program of the Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals. New sweats and toiletries are provided for hospital patients suffering from trauma.
CAPPY Bears -- A program of the Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals. Stuffed bears are provided to hospitals and fire stations for traumatized children and senior citizens.
Sprouts -- Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals administers this early intervention program for young children.

Hygiene Kits -- Assisteens assemble hygiene kits for Operation School Bell.
Fort Washington Mentoring -- After training, members tutor fourth grade children. A program of Assisteens.
Nancy Hinds Special Friends -- After training, members work with children who have lost a parent through death. A program of Assisteens.
Nazareth House -- Provides convalescent home visits. Members read, polish nails, play games and give two annual parties. A program of Assisteens.
Birthday Box -- Assisteens provide twice yearly birthday parties for a classroom.
Operation Gift Box -- Provides a shoebox size gift to shut-in residents that will provide comfort and enjoyment to those who may not otherwise receive a gift during the holidays.

Break the Barriers -- Assisteens provide hands-on activities in physical, artistic and academic programs at local schools.

Operation School Bell® -- Provides annually new school clothing to over 1,200 needy school children who are referred by their local schools.
La Vista High School -- Serves as a community support group for this alternative high school, providing funds for scholarships, academic awards and other areas of need.
Meals on Wheels of Fullerton -- Provides free office space and utilities for the local Meals on Wheels program that delivers meals to housebound seniors.
Operation New Start -- Provides clothing and household items for women and children leaving an abusive environment as they embark on a new life.
Santa's Closet -- Provides holiday help for families in need in the form of gift cards from local retailers.
Vision Screening and Referral -- Oversees and finances vision screenings for public and private elementary school children and provides financing for lenses and frames when needed.
ACT 1 -- ACT 1 (Assisting Children and Teachers) is a reading/mentoring program designed to help elementary age children improve their reading skills.
Foster Youth Success Initiative Support -- Vouchers to our Thrift Shop are provided for Fullerton College foster youth students in need of clothes for school or a job interview.

SAT Review -- Instructors are hired to teach classes for high school students, primarily in English and mathematics.
Scholarships -- A scholarship is awarded to a graduating student in four high schools, a continuation high school and a community college.
Adult Neighborhood Fellowship -- Provides entertainment and lunch to seniors once a month.

Weavers -- A project of Spinnakers Auxiliary, this project treats visually impaired adults and guests to a monthly luncheon/celebration and entertainment. Guests are transported by auxiliary.
Forensic Nursing Scholarships -- Provides funds for nurses to attend specialized training for skills of rape specimen collection and prepares the nurse to stay with a rape victim through court appearance, if necessary.
Los Ojos Bonitos -- Provides vouchers for eye exams and glasses to students in need. A Project of the Las Primeras Auxiliary.
AL of Santa Ana
Operation School Bell® -- New school uniforms, including shoes, jackets and underclothing, are furnished through Operation School Bell®.
Serving Eager Eyes (SEE) Optometric Program -- Eye exams and glasses are provided under Serving Eager Eyes Program to students from kindergarten through high school. About 100 boys and girls are helped every year.
Dental Center -- Provides Santa Ana Unified School District children with low-cost dental care and hygiene education.
Assistance League Outreach -- Provides for short term community needs that cannot be addressed by existing programs.
Assistance League of Santa Ana Scholarship Program -- College scholarships are provided by the Pupil Recognition Opportunity Program and granted to graduates in the Santa Ana Unified School District. Annually 25-50 scholarships are awarded.
Partnerships -- A collaboration with Head Start, Inc. Hands-on activities help give children an educational advantage before they enter the school system.
Family FUNdamentals -- Provides support and training for parents, teachers and students and hands-on events in health, nutrition, hygiene and literacy at KIDS and other Head Start facilities.
Perfect Attendance Incentive Program -- offers elementary and middle school children a chance to win a bicycle and helmet by having perfect attendance
AL of Santa Barbara
Operation School Bell® -- Provides new clothing to elementary schoolchildren in need. A program of the chapter and Las Aletas Auxiliary.
Operation School Bell®/Fun in the Sun -- An extension of Operation School Bell, this program provides appropriate new clothing to disadvantaged children who are chosen to attend day camp.
Teen School Bell -- An extension of Operation School Bell, this program provides referred middle school students with new school clothing.
The Little Cottage -- Serves out-of-area families in need whose relatives are hospitalized.
Operation Bookshelf -- This program of the Las Aletas Auxiliary provides library service to shut-ins.
Kids on the Block -- Explores, through puppetry, issues of disability, cultural differences, social problems and acceptance of self and others. A program of Las Aletas Auxiliary.
Family Learning Program -- Tutoring, mentoring and support to families. Assist with reading, math, homework assignments and enrichment activities. Helps parents and children.
Bear H.U.G.S. -- Teddy Bears for children and adults in trauma situations.
Friendship Luncheons -- Provides lunches for seniors.
Hillside House -- Along with financial support, members give generously of their time in hands-on help to this residential home and center for people with cerebral palsy and brain injuries.
VIP Luncheons -- Very Important Performers Luncheons are given quarterly to honor middle school students who have shown significant improvement in grades, attitude, attendance and citizenship.
Santa Barbara Smiles -- Provides basic dental care to low-income residents of Santa Barbara.
Fostering Friends -- Provides one-on-one mentors for young adults leaving foster care to assist them with living skills, finding living accommodations and other specific needs.
Community Friends -- Provides the chapter with a means to meet a variety of needs in the community in a timely fashion.
Tender Touch -- Supports parents who have lost a child at birth.

Booster Bags -- Booster Bags is designed to boost the spirits of women and children in crisis with bags containing food, toiletries and clothing.
Bright Beginnings -- Provides teen parents with layettes, children's clothing and educational materials. Scholarship assists a teen mother returning to school.
Safe Haven -- Decorate the facility of Women's Recovery Service and provide selected items for the women and their children who are in treatment
AL of Stockton
Assault Survivor Kits® -- Volunteers assemble kits containing underwear, sweats, flip‐flops and basic grooming kits so they may leave the San Joaquin County Hospital and return home with a sense of dignity.
Operation School Bell® -- Provides new clothing for elementary schoolchildren in need.
The Kids on the Block -- Our puppeteers perform shows for elementary schoolchildren to teach tolerance and acceptance of others and their differences.
Operation Rescue -- Supplies several charitable and educational institutions with $25 vouchers to distribute to clients who may need job‐appropriate clothing as they return to the work force.
Kid's Komfort Kits -- Provides kits with basic items to children being placed in foster care.
Book Buddies -- Book Buddies is a unique literacy program in that our volunteers listen to children read instead of reading to them.
AL of Temecula Valley
Operation School Bell® -- Provides new clothing for elementary, middle and high school children referred by the health clerks in the four school districts we serve.
Operation Scholarships -- Scholarships are awarded to area high school seniors for scholastic excellence as well as outstanding community service. Grants are also awarded to district teachers for enrichment programs.
Operation Bear Hug -- This program provides teddy bears to hospitalized, injured or traumatized children through hospital ERs, fire departments and other agencies.
Operation Community Outreach -- This unique program meets a range of community needs on a one-time basis. It enables the organization to respond to emergency requests for goods and services in a flexible manner.
Operation Foster Youth -- Provides duffle bags which contain clothing, school supplies and hygiene items when children move within the foster system and also assist emancipated youths.
Operation Nonprofit Partnerships -- Oversees the free use of the chapter meeting room by other 501(c)(3) organizations. Partnerships are formed with community nonprofit organizations to provide needed services to the community.
Operation Couture Closet -- Provides evening gowns to qualified students for the cost of dry cleaning the gown. Allows underprivileged students the opportunity to attend formal events.
Operation S.H.A.D.E.S. -- Provides a series of 4 financial literacy classes for targeted youths "for a future so bright you will have to wear shades"
AL of the Foothill Communities
Operation School Bell® -- Provides clothing for elementary schoolchildren referred to us by nurses in area schools.
Bears -- Provides bears for children in trauma - distributed by emergency personnel when needed.
Tutoring Services -- Las Tias auxiliary provides monies to a local program in which high school students from nine area schools tutor their peers on campus.
Operation School Bell Grooming Kits -- Provides health and grooming kits for elementary schoolchildren who attend Operation School Bell. A project of the Assisteens Auxiliary.
Foothill Family Shelter -- Assisteens host three annual parties for the children at the shelter - in August, December and in spring. Each child is treated to school supplies, goodies, games and gifts.
Fostering New Beginnings -- Provides assistance to young adults in the foster care system.
San Antonio Community Hospital Dental Center -- Dental care is provided to children in kindergarten through grade 8 whose parents have no other means of accessing needed treatment, and who are referred to us by nurses in the schools.
Waste Not -- Donating unsold/unsellable blankets and linens to City of Upland Animal Services.
AL of Tustin
Operation School Bell® -- Hundreds of students in the Tustin Unified School District receive new school-approved uniforms, school supplies and a voucher to buy shoes and socks. The Assisteens support this vital program.
Children's Dental Health Program -- Dental screening consisting of visual oral examinations and urgent dental care by licensed dentists to K-3 students of the Tustin Unified School district. Assisteens support this program.
S.A.T. Review -- Classes are offered for a minimal fee to students preparing for college entrance exams. The Winifred Campbell Auxiliary operates this program.
Parent Education Program -- Parents living in the Tustin area are offered a variety of educational programs in partnership with the Tustin Unified School District administration to develop their learning and parenting skills.
Project TODAY -- A drug and alcohol intervention program for the Tustin Unified School District as consequence/support for students found with drugs/alcohol at school, during school hours or at a school function.
Assisteens Buddy Program -- Innovative program provides service and support to AYSO, Blind Children's Learning Center and Little League by partnering Assisteens members with disabled children and adults in the Tustin Community.
Friends In Service -- Incorporates various programs designed to give Assisteens a hands-on opportunity to serve a wide range of people in need.
Outdoor Education -- This program loans sleeping bags and warm clothing and gives hats, mittens, and long underwear to students for Outdoor Science School.
Waste Not -- Provides an expanded community service emphasis to oversee distribution of unusable items donated to other 501(c)(3) organizations.
Hearts of Hope/Shelter Assistance -- Provides assistance to 3 shelters in the community. Winifred Campbell and Assisteens Auxiliaries collect and deliver food to each shelter. Other special outings happen throughout the year.

Operation School Bell® -- The chapter provides new clothing to elementary school students in the Visalia Unified School District. Each child receives a full set of clothes and a personal hygiene kit.
50 Sense -- Large colorful maps of the United States are painted on school playground blacktops. This program enhances the awareness of the geography of the U.S.
Kids on the Block -- In cooperation with Tulare County Office of Education, we use large puppets to put on performances for elementary students. Scripts address social issues such as bullying, drugs, and respect.
Le Bag -- Members provide hygiene kits which are given to students on an as needed basis by the school staff as well as distributed through Operation School Bell.
Rainbow Reading -- Members read with small groups of children at Washington School. This program augments the regular classroom reading program and provides valuable one-on-one interaction.
AL of Whittier
Operation School Bell® -- This program provides clothing for elementary schoolchildren in need attending local area schools.
Bookmobile -- This service, in conjunction with the Whittier Public Library, has been delivering books to shut-ins free of charge for more than 40 years.
Continuing Education Fund -- Started in 1981, Assistance League provides grants for single-parent/head of household students in need at Rio Hondo College and Whittier College.
To Tell the Tooth -- To Tell The Tooth is a tooth care puppet show.
The Kids on the Block™ -- This scripted puppet show started in 1981 and is performed by members using life-sized puppets to help children understand disabilities and social issues.
Wee Wardrobe -- A project of the Quaker Town Professionals Auxiliary which provides layettes to needy parents.
Operation Holiday -- A collaboration between the auxiliary and the Salvation Army where chapter will purchase, wrap and deliver clothing, personal items, toys and food during the holiday season.

New Beginnings -- Purchases and delivers new clothing and Assault Survivor Kits® to rape crisis centers as well as clothing, hygiene kits, and household goods to Atlanta area shelters and short-term care facilities.
Shepherd Center Patient Support -- Purchases and delivers new clothing that is appropriate for physical therapy for recently admitted patients to this nationally recognized hospital.
Wee Help -- Purchases, assembles, and delivers newborn layettes to area hospitals for mothers in need. Bereavement layette packages are also delivered to hospitals and hospice centers.
Links to Education -- Provides scholarship funding for deserving students in post-high school Georgia institutions.
Waste Not -- The Waste Not program donates items that cannot be used in our Attic Treasures thrift shop or philanthropic programs to other nonprofit social agencies.

Operation School Bell® -- Provides new school clothing for elementary school children in Title I schools, as identified by the Hawaii State Dept. of Educ. and school personnel.
Tutu Tutorial -- Provides one-on-one tutoring to build literacy and self-esteem, thereby increasing student attendance and school success.
We Care -- Gives Malama teddy bears to those in trauma. Layettes are distributed to hospital maternity wards. Birthday parties are given for homeless shelter children.
Operation Wildlife -- Teaches about Endangered Species and Conservation to 4th grade students, including an extensive exhibit of real animal "biofacts."
Share Program -- Distributes items donated to Assistance League of Hawaii that are unsellable in the thrift shop, to other non-profit agencies.
AL of Boise
Operation School Bell® -- Provides Ada County public school children in need (K-6) with new clothing, a shoe voucher, a hygiene kit, and a book. Children are refered by school officials.
Operation School Supplies -- Designated school supplies are purchased, assembled, and distributed to Ada County public schools(K-8). Teachers and counselors provide students in need with the same supplies as their classmates.
Baby Bundles -- Provides layettes for newborns of families in need of assistance in local Ada County hospitals.
History in the Bown House -- This 1889 restored house teaches real-life history lessons on how our forefathers lived. Fourth grade Ada County students tour the house.
Cinderella's Closet -- Ada County high school students are able to borrow, for a nominal fee, formal wear from our large selection. Dreams come true for their special occasions of Homecomming and Spring Prom.
Project Hearing -- Assistance is provided to the hearing impared of Ada County. Hearing impared students receive educational grants to further their education. Hearing aids and special equipment are also provided.
Empowering Youth -- Provides household items and non-perishable food items to youth who are 18 years old and aging out of foster care.
AL of Chicagoland West
Operation School Bell® -- New winter coats, hats & gloves for local school kids in need. Presently serves 1,800 children in 28 schools across 9 school districts.
Operation New Start -- Essential kitchen equipment for families transitioning from homelessness to independent living. Encourages preparation of nutritious meals at home, extending the reach of limited financial resources.
Operation Early Reading -- Reading readiness backpacks for local HeadStart sites and targeted low-income schools, plus reading days when members go into the classrooms to read to the children and donate books.
Operation Scholars Support -- Scholarships for students attending the county's community college. Eases financial burdens to encourage graduation while increasing the availability of a skilled workforce.
Operation Stepping Stone -- Meets special needs in the community on a one time basis; recipients change annually.

Operation School Bell®/Clothes for Kids -- School becomes a daily trial for children with inadequate clothing. We provide children with clothing to enhance self-esteem, promote learning and encourage regular school attendance.
Operation School Bell®/Literacy+ -- The goal of Literacy+ is to improve the ability of students having difficulty reading at grade level. Members conduct weekly one-on-one reading sessions with second graders to improve their skills.
Operation Graduation -- In January and June each year, Assistance League honors graduates who have completed the Adult Basic Education program to earn their General Education Development (GED) or high school diploma.
TABBY -Take A Book Bag with You -- This program encourages the love of reading in young children and introduces them to the basic book lending priciples of libraries.

Baby Bundles -- Baby Bundles provides the tiniest and most vulnerable newborns in need with a bundle of clothing and necessities for the first months of their lives.

Operation Healthy Teeth -- Operation Healthy Teeth makes urgent dental treatment available to children who have no other means to access treatment.
Bunny Baskets -- Assisteens assemble cheerful baskets of books, toys, treats, toothbrushes and toothpaste for young children residing at the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter in March or April.
Teens Helping Teens -- Assisteens give 18 year olds, that are moved out of the foster care system, boxes of basic provisions to set up housekeeping on their own.
Helping Hearts -- Assisteens host a craft and reading party for children residing at the Road Home Homeless Shelter. Each child is given a book to keep.
