I have lived in San Antonio my entire life. When I retired, I searched for a volunteer organization where my efforts could make a difference in the community. I joined several organizations but never really felt like I was making a difference. A friend told me about Assistance League of San Antonio and it was making a huge, positive difference in the community. I joined and know my volunteer hours are making a positive difference.
Assistance League of San Antonio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of 439 volunteer members who gave 61,819 hours in service and contributed nearly $700,000 to our immediate community last year. The organization relies solely on volunteers except for a part time bookkeeper and two delivery, mover-type hourly employees.
“Transforming Lives – Strengthening Community” is our mission and what motivates us in everything we do at Assistance League of San Antonio. In our last fiscal year, we provided new clothing to over 10,000 children and assisted 51,934 area residents through our eight (8) philanthropic programs and two Bexar Hugs Auxiliary programs.
I now wake up each morning knowing I make a positive difference in our community. It’s truly a wonderful feeling.
