For two days over an October weekend, both men and women amateur and professional tennis players hit the courts to play in support of Assistance League of Atlanta during The Falls of Autry Mills Pro/Am Charity Tennis Tournament. Eighty players competed on twelve courts while family and neighbors came out to cheer from the sidelines.
The Falls has sponsored a charity tennis event for twenty one years. “Most pro/am events are held at country clubs. but we’re the only residential facility in Atlanta that does this,” said Blagi Jurjec, head tennis pro at The Falls. “We believe in giving back to the community and we’re proud to be able to do that through our sport,” he added.
The warm-up for the tennis event was a gala kick-off party the night before with the theme of 70’s & 80”s Disco Dance Party. A silent auction of fifty-seven items featuring a $5,000 gift certificate from EntryPoint Door Co., jewelry from Tiffany’s and an Apple watch along with several raffle items netted $10,000 for the evening. Sponsors for the event contributed nearly $20,000 making the Pro/Am a big success.
“We were so excited to have Assistance League as our charity this year.” said Jill Maxon, Pro/Am Chairperson. “A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made it happen and I hope everyone had fun.”
Proceeds from this event go to support our capital campaign.
