Award-Winning Resale Shop Reached and Surpassed $1 Million in Sales

In 2004, chapter members voted to open a resale shop, allowing the organization to broaden funding initiatives and with success, it would become the major source of revenue to finance the philanthropic programs. In 2005, doors were opened to the public at the first location in Seabrook. The chapter remained at that location for three years until Hurricane Ike forced closure.

After careful research by the then current shop leadership, aided by professional advice, the shop relocated to its present home, 100 E. Nasa Parkway in Webster and welcomed customers for the first time on May 19, 2010. The results have been amazing. In December 2017, the shop reached and surpassed $1 million in sales at this location.

To achieve such a significant milestone required teamwork, creativity, and commitment. This group led efforts as they expanded the floor space, launched new departments, premiered specialty events, and retooled the marketing efforts. Many others have served faithfully in readying the shop each Tuesday before its weekly Wednesday debut. Others share their talents in the backroom, processing the plentiful donations in order to place them out on the floor in a timely fashion. The ever-faithful floor crew, some on a weekly basis, arrive and work the showroom, greeting customers, helping them make selections, and cheerfully tallying up their purchases.

None of this success would be possible if not for the valued customers and donors. Assistance League® of the Bay Area depends on regular and steady contributions in the form of clothing, home goods, accessories, and furniture. The chapter also treasures the customers, who through their purchases provide the necessary revenues to impact the most vulnerable populations in the area.

It is with deep appreciation the organization thanks its customers, donors, and volunteers.
