Assistance League of the Bay Area Celebrates Kohl’s Department Store Partnership

In the summer of 2017, Assistance League® of the Bay Area transitioned to an all-retail model for its largest philanthropic program, Operation School Bell®.  After careful research, the chapter entered into a partnership with Kohl’s Department Stores, specifically three store locations: Kohl’s Pasadena – Fairmont Store, Kohl’s Friendswood – Baybrook Store, and Kohl’s League City – Victory Lakes Store.

Kohl’s embraced this partnership and offered the organization a 10% discount on clothing purchases, as well as the opportunity to earn Kohl’s cash with our purchases. Collectively this amounted to a staggering $33,899.34 or approximately 15% of the budgeted funds.

This generous donation allowed the chapter to provide an additional 520 elementary students with school-appropriate clothing they selected at one of the three locations referenced above.

Affording the organization this chance, especially this year with the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey in many of the areas served, was demonstration of more than simply a partnership, but a true alliance.
