Target Awards $2500 Grant to Assistance League of the Bay Area

Assistance League® of the Bay Area was awarded a $2500 grant from Target this summer. The grant is designated for Operation School Bell® and will allow the chapter to continue providing students identified as economically disadvantaged with clothing and hygiene kits. Nine school districts are currently served: Clear Creek, Deer Park, Dickinson, Friendswood, Galveston, La Porte, Santa Fe, and Texas City, and a public charter school system, Mosbacher Odyssey Academy, with locations in Galveston, Texas City, and the Bay Area.

When asked why Target Baybrook continues to provide funding to Assistance League, Team Member Janet Evans replied, “The children of this community are our future, and we need to ensure they are taken care of properly. We value community partnerships and know that Assistance League faithfully meets those needs.” Janet has been a part of the Operation School Bell initiative for the past eleven years. Collectively Target has provided $14,000 in funding to the chapter since 2011.

Target has a rich history of service to others. For the past seventy years, the company has given 5 percent of its profit to local communities, which now equals more than $4 million weekly. More than 1,900 Target stores carry on this tradition by making local grants and providing volunteer hours.
