Birthday in a Box Volunteers Package Items Necessary for a Party for At-Risk Students

Birthday in a Box, a philanthropic program created in 2005, initially served students at McWhirter Elementary School. Designed to provide students who may not otherwise have a celebration, the ‘box’ contained a small gift, note, card, and items to have a party. These were distributed to students participating in the Communities In Schools – Bay Area initiative.

Program expansion continued by adding League City Elementary participants to the program, and just last spring, the membership approved going to Dickinson Independent School District, now, each month, Assisteens® assembles these kits for additional delivery to K. E. Little Elementary and San Leon Elementary School.

Assisteens of the Bay Area recognize the long-range impact they may be making on these young students’ lives.
