This event draws hundreds together with a shared mission to raise funds for Sara&#8217;s Project, a fund of St. Charles Foundation. Sara&#8217;s Project provides education, early detection and support services to ease the challenges of breast cancer for people in Central and Eastern Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday, October 6, 2024 marked the 25th Annual Heaven Can Wait 5K race in Redmond, a fundraiser for breast cancer patients and survivors.<\/p>\n<p>A long time Bend resident and breast cancer survivor, Charlene Levesque, envisioned, created and coordinated the walk that is now organized by the St. Charles Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can see the love and the compassion that\u2019s out here for our fellow cancer survivors, it\u2019s really meant to let them know they are not alone, that we are here, your community is here to help,\u201d said Jenny O\u2019Bryan, the executive director for the St. Charles Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Over 1,200 people came to support the event, which over the years has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Sara\u2019s Project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing lots of other cancer survivors, unless you\u2019ve been through it, you don\u2019t know what a cancer diagnosis does to you, and so many of the women are so upbeat and really encouraging,\u201d said Donna Crandall of Assistance League Bend.<\/p>\n<p>Assistance League of Bend offers free handmade chemo hats, comfort shawls, lavender heating pads and knitted knockers to women battling breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraloregondaily.com\/news\/redmond\/25th-annual-heaven-can-wait-5k-brings-over-a-thousand-people-to-the-event\/article_f794dd94-8427-11ef-88f4-2fa87dfa8c97.html\">Click Here<\/a>\u00a0to see Heaven Can Wait in action on Central Oregon Daily[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;9560&#8243; img_size=&#8221;480 x 640&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;9561&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;9566&#8243; img_size=&#8221;480 x 640&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] HEAVEN CAN WAIT and Assistance League of Bend Assistance League of Bend has been a participating vendor at the annual Heaven Can Wait 5K walk\/run since 2014.
