Members of Assistance League of the Chesapeake met on Thursday, December 14, for their annual Stork’s Nest Baby Shower to benefit the Stork’s Nest at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Members donated over $4,000 of items to Stork’s Nest, which provides educational classes ranging from prenatal to infant care, utilizing a points-based incentive system for women to earn and “purchase” infant care items until the baby turns 12 months old. Any pregnant woman in Anne Arundel County is eligible to participate, with a priority of engaging pregnant women who do not receive regular prenatal care and who are at risk for infant mortality or premature birth.

Assistance League members donated bottles, diapers, baby wipes, blankets, clothing and other items to help keep the Stork’s Nest fully stocked. Stork’s Nest relies on the generosity of the community for these infant care necessities.

Stork’s Nest is a partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Anne Arundel County Department of Health, the March of Dimes Maryland Chapter and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Rho Eta Zeta Chapter.
