Member volunteers are dedicated to the philanthropic programs described below. Assistance League\u00ae of El Paso is funded through our Thrift Shop, grants, fundraising, and donations from the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Thrift Shop is staffed and managed entirely by member volunteers, and is open M,W,F & Sat 10:00am-3:00pm with clothing for the entire family and unique items for your home. Children who attend school without adequate clothing often suffer from low self-esteem and low performance in school. The goal of Operation School Bell\u00ae is to provide a week\u2019s worth of new school clothing to children whose families struggle to provide the necessary clothes.<\/p>\n

Children in grades 1-5 attending El Paso County public schools are identified by their school administration and clothing is distributed to those children through the school. Assault Survivor Kits\u00ae\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When victims report sexual assault, their clothing is often retained as evidence. Each Assault Survivor Kit\u00ae contains a set of new clothing and toiletries showing that someone cares.<\/p>\n

Our volunteers purchase, assemble, and deliver ASK kits to Center Against Sexual & Family Violence who help victims of sexual assault at UMC.<\/p>\n

Kits include sweatpants, shirt, undergarments, socks, slip on shoes, sunglasses, and toiletries.\u00a0Read more\u00a0 >>><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

PASO Bears\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PASO (P<\/strong>ut A S<\/strong>mile O<\/strong>n)\u00a0<\/em>Bear program distributes 500 Teddy Bears to emergency service organizations to calm and give comfort to children in traumatic situations.<\/p>\n

Every first responder has a cuddly friend tucked away in their vehicle for when a traumatic situation arises, and the PASO Bear is ready to go to work.\u00a0Read more\u00a0 >>><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We Help Others<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHO (W<\/strong>e H<\/strong>elp O<\/strong>thers)<\/em> committee serves abused, homeless women and their children at La Posada shelter with monthly care packages. We supply daily necessities to help these women and children return to an independent, safer situation. Volunteers also serve two monthly meals at Ronald McDonald House\u00ae.\u00a0 WHO supports two other programs HATS(Help Another to Smile)<\/em> creating decorated caps and beanies for cancer patients and SOL(Stitches of Love)<\/em> making blankets and quilts for those in need.
