Assistance League Glendale is made up of volunteers from all walks of life working together to support children and adults while creating a long-term presence in the community through hands-on involvement and innovative philanthropic programs.<\/p>\n<p>A jewel in Glendale&#8217;s crown of charities, the chapter has been serving the community for over 75 years. The chapter was\u00a0organized in 1937 by a small group of philanthropic-minded Glendale women. In the spring of 1943, Assistance League Glendale was chartered and incorporated as a chapter of National Assistance League. Today there are 120 Assistance League chapters in 26 states with over 22,000 members. In 2019-2020, Assistance League chapters served over 1.37 million people.<\/p>\n<p>Assistance League Glendale supports seven community-based\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/glendale\/philanthropic-programs\/\">philanthropic programs<\/a>\u00a0benefiting everyone from school-aged students through Operation School Bell<sup>\u00ae\u00a0<\/sup>to seniors that attend our Senior Neighborhood Fellowship, a monthly luncheon where we serve a low-cost lunch with entertainment<span style=\"color: #333333\">.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">I<span style=\"color: #333300\">n 2019-2020, <span style=\"color: #333333\">our dedicated members volunteered over <i>16,818\u00a0<\/i>hours<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333300\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span> We encourage you to learn more about our chapter and the many ways you can become involved and make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/glendale\/thrift-shop\/\">thrift shop, Thrift Alley,<\/a>\u00a0is our main source of funding. The shop is staffed and managed by our member volunteers and community workers. Thrift Alley is open Wednesday-Saturday and welcomes your tax-deductible donations.<\/p>\n<p>Assistance League Glendale did not rest on its laurels in the past, nor does it intend to rest on them today. As the population of Glendale is growing, so are the needs of its population. Today\u2019s membership is motivated and is planning for the future.
