What is Assisteens?<\/h4>\n

Assisteens<\/strong> is the youth auxiliary of Assistance League chapters.\u00a0 Assisteens Auxiliaries have been a part of Assistance League chapters since 1959. Currently, 44 Assisteens units provide volunteer service and leadership opportunities for students in grades 7 through 12 or age equivalent..<\/p>\n

Each Assistance League chapter is autonomous, tailoring its programs to its local communities. The associated Assisteens unit is unique as well, establishing programs and events to fit local needs and resources. A variety of service and leadership opportunities are available to members with opportunities to grow and find purpose.<\/p>\n

Assisteens Membership:<\/h4>\n

• Develops community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, poise, public speaking and leadership skills<\/li>\n
• Provides volunteer experience for college application requirements and resumes<\/li>\n
• Instills spirit of volunteerism and rewards of experience<\/li>\n
• Offers opportunity to be contributing members of the community and increases community knowledge<\/li>\n
• Establishes membership in a national nonprofit organization<\/li>\n
• Meets high school requirements for community service<\/li>\n
• Presents the opportunity to be part of a new group of diverse friends from different high schools in Placer County<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Why should I join?<\/h4>\n

  The Assisteens of Greater Placer inaugural class began in June 2018 and developed programs and activities for their future. Members have a unique opportunity to shape the direction of the group yearly as the needs of the community change. Benefits of being an Assisteen are expressed by these\u00a0 members.<\/p>\n

  Savannah, who has been an Assisteen for two years, said: \u00a0“Assisteens has taught me that giving back to the community is very important! I love doing all of the projects to help people in need.” <\/strong><\/p>\n

  Julia, also a member for two years, stated: “We like our work with Assisteens because it has given us work experience and taught us the good that comes out of giving back to the community.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

  What is required to be a member of Assisteens?<\/h4>\n

  <\/i> <\/span>Be a student in grades 7-12 or age equivalent in Greater Placer area<\/p>\n

  <\/i> <\/span>Attend monthly meetings the second Sunday of each month \u2014 August – May<\/p>\n

  <\/i> <\/span>Participate in philanthropic and fundraising activities: Minimum of 35 hours per year<\/p>\n

  <\/i> <\/span>Pay annual dues of $35 and optional purchase of T-shirt for $15<\/p>\n
