Assisteens actively support the League\u2019s philanthropic programs, helping to provide school clothing, books, and essential resources to underserved children and families in San Diego.<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221; gap=&#8221;20&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7899&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Through hands-on involvement in the thrift shop, fundraising, and direct service projects, Assisteens gain valuable experience in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. The program not only allows them to make a meaningful difference in their community but also prepares them for college and beyond by fostering leadership skills, civic responsibility, and a strong work ethic.<\/p>\n<p>By joining Assisteens, members gain more than just volunteer hours\u2014they become compassionate leaders, form lasting friendships, and develop skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221; gap=&#8221;20&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Members meet on a monthly basis on the second Sunday of the month. Additionally, they volunteer at a variety of philanthropic\/community service events on scheduled weekends. Guest speakers help to provide deeper insight to the people in the community they are helping and the service programs they represent.<\/p>\n<p>Assisteens enjoy the independence of running their meetings and planning philanthropic events. Look at his face!\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7837&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Assisteens learn leadership skills by being officers and serving on committees. They learn effective communication, responsibility, budgeting and marketing skills. Empathy and inclusion are at the core of all they do.<\/p>\n<p>Letters of recommendation from Assisteens advisors for college applications, scholarships, awards, and jobs are provided to members in good standing upon request. The annual volunteer hours commitment is a minimum of 24, though most Assisteens volunteer in excess of the minimum requirement. Many members continue for 4-6 years.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]At the Assistance League Thrift Shop, Assisteens volunteer as cashiers and baggers at special events as well as regular hours on selected weekends. They learn skills to effectively work in a retail setting.<\/p>\n<p>Assisteens and their families look forward to the End of Year Celebration!
