It is the only loaner hearing aid program in San Diego.<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221; gap=&#8221;20&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Operation Loaner Hearing Aids offers short term hearing aids for children ages birth to 21 who have lost a hearing aid or are waiting for a replacement, a process that can take up to six months. Long term hearing aids are for those families who make between $40,000 and $70,000 and are unable to afford the cost. If the child has an educationally significant hearing loss, they may keep their hearing aids until they move out of the participating school district or graduate.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7854&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1739199564440{padding-top: 2em !important;padding-right: 2em !important;padding-bottom: 2em !important;padding-left: 2em !important;background-color: #788ec8 !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; el_class=&#8221;oswald-normal color-white&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>The program began in collaboration with the San Diego Unified School District. Because of its success, we have been able to open the program to both South County and East County School Districts.<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221; gap=&#8221;20&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Our other partner is San Diego State University. The school district refers students to SDSU\u2019s audiology clinic where they are fitted for hearing aids. Most hearing aids for children cost $3000 each; children with hearing loss often need two.
