Operation Seniors seeks to improve the quality of life for older adults in the community by providing a variety of services in several different settings.<\/h4>\n

Operation Seniors<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Operation Seniors serves three different senior groups in our community. They are a low-income retirement residence, an assisted living residence and the Grandparents Support Network. We provide a variety of programs from Bingo, arts and crafts, baked goods, holiday gifts, games and notecards. Our goal is to enrich each and every senior\u2019s life in a thoughtful and joyous manner.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

AHEPA<\/strong><\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]AHEPA is a low-income retirement community in Wilmington where we reach every single resident in some type of activity or program. We provide Bingo, arts and crafts, games, handmade notecards for every holiday, homemade baked treats 3 times a year, December holiday gifts, Valentine\u2019s Day mementoes, pizza lunch, a monthly ice cream delivery and more!<\/p>\n

In 2023, we were able to provide a Southern Social and a trolley ride to the residents of AHEPA. \u00a0The residents will also have a quarterly opportunity to receive clothing from the ALGW Thrift Shop.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Spring Arbor<\/strong><\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Spring Arbor Assisted Living is located in Wilmington. We have had the pleasure of providing Bingo games with prizes, December holiday and Valentine\u2019s Day gifts, notecards for every holiday, arts and crafts projects of which many of those go to decorate our \u201cevery holiday\u201d tree, and a pizza party. We have also supplied them with yoga balls and drumsticks to make for a unique, fun-filled exercise program!<\/p>\n

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren<\/strong><\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Grandparents Support Network, which is run out of the Lower Cape Fear YWCA in Wilmington, is the third group that we support.\u00a0 These grandparents have taken over the role of raising their grandchildren. Our goal is to make the grandparents feel appreciated and to help support them where there is an unfulfilled need. \u00a0We have baked treats and provided Holiday and Spring food baskets. \u00a0We also are fulfilling the need for household supplies such as paper goods, cleaners, and laundry needs.\u00a0 Furthermore, we pick up and deliver 30lb boxes of food once a month from the Food Bank for qualifying grandparents.
