The SECU (acronym for \u201cState Employees Credit Union“<\/span>)<\/i> Family House at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center offers support and lodging for family and friends of patients being cared for at Novant NHRMC, as well as for patients who must travel to the area for outpatient medical treatment. Located just a short distance from the hospital\u2019s main campus, the nonprofit SECU Family House asks for only $40 per room per night to offset costs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Our chapter became involved with the Family House in 2010. At that time, volunteers currently coordinated special dinners on a quarterly basis, as well as provided Thanksgiving and December Holiday meals for the guests, who were so appreciative to have a delicious dinner waiting for them when they come back from a long day at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Besides providing meals, we also enhance the outside d\u00e9cor of the building by planting flowers in the spring and fall. \u00a0We have also contributed to their wish list by planting two new trees for the front of the building.<\/p><\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”4″ accent_color=”#2c49a0″][vc_column_text]SECU Family House Program is a philanthropic program that includes the provision of goods and\/or services to SECU Family House which provide a supportive, homelike atmosphere for Novant NHRMC patients and family members.<\/p>\n

In 2022, our chapter provided the facility with 24 compact refrigerators, one for each room for residents, since communal meals could not be served during Covid-19.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”4″ accent_color=”#2c49a0″][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” gap=”5″][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4831″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline” border_color=”black”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Families stay here while loved ones are in the hospital.<\/p>\n
