Assistance League of Greater Wilmington is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that is\u00a0transforming lives and strengthening community\u00a0through our\u00a0philanthropic programs that serve\u00a0the Greater Wilmington area. \u00a0Our local chapter is one of 120 chapters\u00a0of National Assistance League that started in Los Angeles in the early 1900s.<\/h4>\n

All funds raised are used to serve the people of New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
\nSince 2008, our chapter’s Philanthropic Programs have given over over $2,856,000<\/span><\/strong> to help those in need.<\/h4>\n

Operation School Bell\u00a0 is the national philanthropic program. Assistance League of Greater Wilmington launches its AL ACTION! event in February: a fundraiser to provide art supplies for several elementary schools in the tri-county area.<\/h4>\n

During February, anyone who enters the Assistance League Thrift Shop on Eastwood Road can donate $5 or more to purchase art supplies. To increase the number of schools receiving funds, ALGW will match the public\u2019s donations up to $3000.<\/h4>\n

Thrift Shop visitors can also enjoy a student art show, featuring the works of Wrightsboro Elementary students taught by Bronwen Guthrie.<\/h4>\n

Assistance League chapters across the country produce AL ACTION! events during February to celebrate the birthday of their founder, Anne Banning. Most events benefit schools served by Assistance League\u2019s flagship program, Operation School Bell\u00ae<\/sup>.<\/h4>\n
