Celebration of Giving at Texas Children’s Hospital a huge success

Judging by the looks on the kids’ faces when they talked to Santa and opened their stockings, Celebration of Giving was a huge success.  Bob Warnsman again did a good job as Santa Claus.

Ray Sedwick and Jeff Nuttall took pictures of each family with Santa, giving them keepsake photos, while Roberto Iglesias and Terry Brooks helped committee members with games and other entertainment.  A large committee headed by Louise Nuttall and Carol Hemphill, turned out in full force to stuff stockings, serve lunch, provide games and give each patient an art/painting kit from the Denali Foundation. Forty-one families received a $400 gift card for groceries and other gifts.  In addition, mothers received goodie bags with spa items donated by Trader Joe’s which Jann Cobler requested. Home Depot donated the trees, and Elegant Chairs & More donated Santa’s Throne and the tables and chairs. In total we had 41 families with 65 siblings, totaling 106 children who received stockings.

Our budget was $16,000 and it was totally matched by our gracious members, businesses and friends who wanted to ensure that these families had a Happy Holiday Season.
