Operation School Bell®
This program is the signature philanthropic program of the National Assistance League and one of the oldest and largest of Assistance League of Houston’s programs in which school uniforms are provided to economically disadvantaged schoolchildren. The objectives of this program are to clothe the children making it possible for them to attend school appropriately dressed and boost each child’s self-confidence, school attendance, and classroom performance. Assistance League of Houston invited children identified by personnel at partner schools and community agencies to attend “Shopping Days” with their families where they could shop for school appropriate uniforms. The program currently serves schools in the Spring Branch, Alief and Houston Independent School Districts, Harris County Area I Head Start Schools, Yellowstone Academy, Child Advocates, Inc. and Emergency Aid Coalition. During the year ended May 31, 2018, 1,285 children received new school uniforms.
If you would like to help us continue to transform lives and strengthen the community through our Operation School Bell program, please consider contributing to Assistance League of Houston on November 27, 2018 for #GivingTuesday at www.assistanceleague.org/houston.
