This teen group completes numerous activities and projects that are making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.<\/p>\n<p>The program provides a unique opportunity for students in grades 7-12 to develop a sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, and leadership skills. At the same time the students are meeting their requirements for community service. With the guidance of Co-Coordinators, the Assisteens run their own meetings guided by parliamentary procedures. Co-Coordinators mentor the teens as they make decisions which affect the lives of those in need.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;5356&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;5\/6&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>Some of the projects and activities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assembling hygiene kits for Camp Pendleton (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/programs\/operation-school-bell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Operation School Bell\u00ae Program<\/a>), Interfaith Community Services, and other programs in need.<\/li>\n<li>Collecting food and adopting families during the holidays for Interfaith Community Services.<\/li>\n<li>Working with Growing Minds preschools (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/ready-set-read\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ready, Set, Read! Program<\/a>) by reading to them, donating school supplies and collecting toys for the holidays.<\/li>\n<li>Making seasonal cards for various senior communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The group helps Assistance League volunteer staff in a variety of ways including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working in the Thrift Shop<\/li>\n<li>Stuffing bears into bags for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/hug-a-bear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hug-A-Bear Program<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Working at the Chapter&#8217;s booth at the annual Escondido Street Fair<\/li>\n<li>Helping dress children at JCPenney&#8217;s or Kohl\u2019s Department Stores for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/programs\/operation-school-bell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Operation School Bell Program\u00ae<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">Our partners tell us:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Assisteens provide a sense of community for Interfaith families by including them in \u201cnormalizing\u201d activities such as holiday parties and fun activities.\u201d &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Jojo Gozalo, Family Housing Case Manager\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul id=\"m_-3577890015429167197yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1519618411541_2835\">\n<li id=\"m_-3577890015429167197yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1519618411541_2834\">Membership is open all year for teens in grades 7 through 12.
