{"id":4352,"date":"2020-12-09T13:54:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T19:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/?page_id=4352"},"modified":"2024-08-25T10:43:34","modified_gmt":"2024-08-25T17:43:34","slug":"waste-not-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/waste-not-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Waste Not Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; el_class=&#8221;.bulletspace&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Nothing Goes To Waste<\/h2>\n<p>Waste Not Program oversees the distribution of unusable items donated to, or purchased for use by, thrift shop, Operation School Bell\u00ae or any other Assistance League of Inland North County program to other 501(c)(3) organizations.<\/p>\n<h3>Organizations Currently Receiving Donations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Camp Pendleton, Marine Family Services Miramar and STEP (Support the Enlisted Project) Miramar <\/strong>provide clothing and household supplies to the enlisted struggling to make ends meet due to the higher cost of living in California.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gently Hugged<\/strong> provides gently used or new infant clothing in sizes preemie to 12 months for babies in need.\u00a0 In addition to clothing, board books are included in each bag.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5451\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-958x719.jpg 958w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-800x600.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/inland-north-county\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2023\/01\/Wastenot-533x400.jpg 533w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Esperanza Crisis Center<\/strong> where homeless adults in crisis, many of them veterans, can find a 24-hour crisis residence which provides acute mental healthcare services to those requiring inpatient treatment.\u00a0 Services include psychiatric evaluation, medication where indicated, individual and group therapy, discharge planning, and psychosocial rehabilitation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Day Urban Ministries<\/strong> provides an area where the homeless and low income individuals and families can shop for themselves for clothing and other necessities.\u00a0 There is no charge for the items they select.\u00a0 Comfort and support is provided while connecting clients to services such as those that can enable them to train for jobs or recover from addiction.\u00a0 Those with new jobs are provided with transportation vouchers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Palomar Medical Center Poway<\/strong> Emergency Departments and Social Services provide clothing and shoes to the homeless.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Third Avenue Charitable Organization (TACO)<\/strong> is a social outreach program and nonprofit charity that serves the homeless, elderly and working poor.\u00a0 In addition to clothing, free meals, counseling, dental\/hearing clinics and end-of-life programs for the dying and their families are provided.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Straight from the Heart<\/strong> provides assistance and job training to foster families and adoptive families through profits from their thrift shop.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Rise Concept<\/strong> uses profits from their resale shop to support organizations which help at risk youth, victims of human trafficking and veterans.<\/li>\n<li><strong>One Safe Place \u2013The North County Family Justice Center<\/strong> is a safe place for anyone who has experienced family violence, elder abuse, child abuse, hate crimes, human trafficking, or other crimes.\u00a0 They provide comprehensive free services in a safe and judgment-free environment that empowers people to move forward with their lives.
