Heartland Auxiliary is a volunteer group of women that supports the chapter and administrates its own program, Operation Child in Need. This unique program provides essentials, such as school supplies and emergency funds, for the individual needs of underprivileged children in Clay and Platte Counties. These children, age 0-21, have not been able to get their needs met elsewhere.  This safety net aids their educational, physical, emotional and social development.

Operation Child in Need committee members receive requests via email from counselors and social workers in school districts and social service agencies.  After careful evaluation, requests are either approved or denied based on our guidelines and committee member votes.  If approved, the member of the committee who is assigned to the requesting agency sends a voucher or orders the required items. In some cases, Operation Child in Need simply arranges for payment for a service.

The Auxiliary meets during the evening providing an opportunity for working individuals to participate in Assistance League.  Meetings are short and dinner is offered.  Members are encouraged to participate in all activities and programs of the organization as much as their personal schedule permits.
