Since most schools became virtual rather than in-person, we had to modify the Operation School Bell experience. The children were not able to come to our facility to select their clothing, so we established a “pack and deliver” system based on sizes and preferences provided by parents. Also due to the pandemic, our revenues, and thus our budget, were reduced, and many supplies became unavailable. However, we were still able to clothe and provide hygiene kits for 1,460 school children, at a cost of $99,577.91. The response from school personnel and parents was very positive and appreciative.

During the 2023-24 school year, Operation School Bell served 1455 students at a cost of $150,000. Building Success, now a subset of Operation School Bell, focuses primarily on literacy. They created 295 activity bags for kindergarten bound children to help them continue to learn throughout the summer months. They also provided books to promote social/emotional wellness to 28 preschool classrooms. These combined services had a value of $4,429 and required 156 hours of volunteer time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1560779321546{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;background-color: #dddddd !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1562862567431{padding-top: 20px !important;}”]Listen to a KFRU interview about Operation School Bell[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4007″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4008″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4005″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Dressing Children in Need in Columbia Public Schools” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%23100c99″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text] Operation School Bell® provides new winter clothing and coats to children in pre-school through fifth grade in the Columbia Public Schools. The goal is to increase the self-esteem of the child and encourage regular school attendance.
