Assistance League of Montgomery County is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that is comprised of multi-talented member volunteers who volunteered over 60,000 hours last year.  Our member volunteers are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need in the Montgomery County area through hands-on programs.

Membership is open to those who wish to be of service to our community and have the time, creativity and passion to volunteer.  Our programs are tailored to the needs of our community and provide the perfect venue to serve those around us.

Membership – Levels and Requirements:

Members

  • Support the mission of the chapter;
  • Pay annual chapter dues; and
  • Assume financial obligations as voted by the membership.

Voting Members

  • Attend chapter meetings, including regular, annual, and special meetings;
  • Participate in and support the philanthropic programs and fundraising activities of the chapter;
  • Have the right to vote and hold office.
  • Serve a minimum of twelve (12) 6-hour shifts in the Thrift Shop and serve on a philanthropic committee and a standing committee;
  • Pay annual dues of $60.

Voting/Limited Service Members

  • Have completed a minimum of eight (8) years of voting membership excluding leaves of absence;
  • Have applied for and been granted such privilege by the Board;
  • Serve six (6) six-hour shifts in the Thrift Shop;
  • Have the option of serving on a standing committee and/or philanthropic program; and
  • Pay annual dues of $60.

Nonvoting Members

  • May participate in and support the philanthropic programs and fundraising activities of the chapter;
  • Have the option to serve on chapter committees;
  • Shall not serve as a committee chairman nor hold office;
  • Have the option to attend chapter meetings;
  • Have completed a minimum of three (3) years as a voting member, excluding leaves of absence. (Completion of the minimum of three (3) years as a voting member may be waived with Board approval.);
  • Fulfill a thirty-six (36) hour per fiscal year obligation to Assistance League through thrift shop assigned work shifts, committee service, and/or program work. Hours shall be prorated based on change of status date; and
  • Pay annual dues of $80. 

Nonvoting/Sustaining Members

  • Meet nonvoting obligations of chapter as stated in the first four requirements of Nonvoting Members (above);
  • Have completed a minimum of eight (8) years voting membership excluding leaves of absence; and
  • Pay annual dues of $80.

Nonvoting/Silver Star Members

  • Meet nonvoting obligations of chapter as stated in the first four requirements of Nonvoting Members (above);
  • Have completed a minimum of twenty-five (25) years membership; and
  • Pay annual dues of $41.
