Assistance League Norman is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that puts caring and commitment into action through philanthropic programs in Norman. Member volunteers are dedicated to ongoing support and a long-term presence in the community through hands-on involvement and innovative philanthropic programs.
The Norman chapter was organized in 1970 with 50 members and was chartered in 1974. There are 120 Assistance League chapters in 27 states with 22,000 members. Assistance League chapters returned over $58 million to local communities across the country and invested 3.5 million service hours.
Assistance League Norman currently has 188 member volunteers working to make Norman a better place to live and work through our programs. Assistance League Norman supports six community based philanthropic programs benefiting everyone from infants to adults residing in Norman and Little Axe. In 2019-2020, our dedicated members volunteered over 13,000 hours and provided new clothes to 1,841 students. Our fundraising events include a home tour, a Gala which includes dinner, dancing and a live and silent auction, OSBee, an adult spelling bee and the Operation School Bell 5K run.
