In Northern Virginia, one in six children is at risk for hunger.\u00a0 To help with this need, our Weekend Food for Kids program provides nonperishable food during the school year to children who receive free or reduced-price meals. New Clothing for Kids<\/h4>\n
Studies have shown that students who have appropriate clothing are more likely to enjoy educational success because they have better self-esteem and better school attendance.\u00a0 We provide clothing, shoes, personal grooming products, coats, hats, and gloves to children from families in need in our community.<\/div>\n

Literacy For Kids<\/h4>\n
We have two components to our literacy efforts. One piece is a reading program where Assistance League members provide one-on-one support to first, second and third grade students every week.\u00a0 The other component provides students at our partner elementary schools with new books through our Build A Child\u2019s Library program, summer reading program, and other book donations.<\/div>\n

Hugs Pillows & Baby Bundles<\/h4>\n

Our Operation Hugs program brings comfort and smiles to help brighten the day and share the love with the little ones in our community. With our Hugs Pillows, we provide fun-filled, handmade heart-shaped pillows to young students. Our Baby Bundles include handmade baby items that are given to new Moms with limited resources to welcome their newborns.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
