We are grateful to have received a grant from No Child Goes Hungry<\/u>, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating childhood hunger.\u00a0 No Child Goes Hungry\u00a0connects charitable organizations that work to reduce food insecurity on a local level with donors who want to help eliminate childhood hunger.<\/p>\n
We will use the funds to purchase grocery\u00a0store\u00a0gift cards for families of students at Pine Spring Elementary School, in Falls Church.\u00a0 It is one of the six elementary schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties and Alexandria that was receiving our Weekend Food for Kids food bags\u00a0each month.\u00a0 The bags contained enough kid-friendly food for 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches. \u00a0When schools closed in the spring, we suspended that program and, instead, began providing grocery\u00a0store\u00a0gift cards to the families of those students.<\/p>\n
The grant from No Child Goes Hungry will allow our chapter to continue providing the much-needed grocery\u00a0store\u00a0gift cards at a time when so many in our community have been severely affected financially by the pandemic. \u00a0Assistance League is honored to have been selected by NCGH\u00a0for\u00a0this grant.\u00a0 Both of our organizations are committed to reducing childhood hunger and helping those most in need in\u00a0our\u00a0community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
