At the start of National Volunteer Month, we want to recognize ALL our member volunteers who have had such a profound impact on students and families in our community since our founding, as a guild in 1999 and as a chapter in 2004.\u00a0 We also encourage everyone to choose a cause and volunteer!\u00a0 Feel the empowerment of knowing you\u2019re making a difference in people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
Our programs have evolved over the past 22 years, but the caring and commitment of our members has remained steadfast.\u00a0 Currently, through our philanthropic programs we provide: nonperishable food to students; new clothing and toiletries, literacy support through individualized tutoring and the donation of new books; Hugs pillows to comfort young children who need help coping; and Baby\/Layette Bundles that contain hand-made baby blankets and hats, onesies, and other items for new mothers. \u00a0Despite our small size and limited budget, we\u2019ve touched the lives of more than 8000 students and families in recent years, and managed to continue providing essential help during the pandemic.\u00a0 The ripple effects from 2 decades of helping the most vulnerable is incalculable, but we know we\u2019ve provided hope and happiness, as well as basic essentials.<\/p>\n
