We are thrilled to report that we have recruited 15 new members since September. \u00a0As a relatively small chapter, adding that many members to our previous base of about 50 members is phenomenal and bodes well for our hopes to expand our efforts.\u00a0 During National Volunteer month in April, nine of our new members attended two orientation sessions at local coffee shops, where they learned specifics about all our activities and programs and posed questions to the board members who attended.\u00a0 Many of the new members had joined because of their interest in our Literacy for Kids program, specifically our one-on-one tutoring efforts, and some had already started tutoring.\u00a0 The new members\u2019 enthusiastic interest in all our programs was evident and all attendees enjoyed the experience of making new friends through a shared interest in improving our community.\u00a0 That\u2019s just one of the reasons we volunteer.<\/p>\n
