{"id":8445,"date":"2023-06-26T10:00:55","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T15:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/northern-virginia\/?p=8445"},"modified":"2023-06-20T14:42:27","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T19:42:27","slug":"giant-bag-bigger-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.assistanceleague.org\/northern-virginia\/2023\/06\/26\/giant-bag-bigger-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Giant Bag, Bigger Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are extremely gratified that the management team at the Giant Food Store at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/v9ZXizRXRAq7yeVw6\">8320 Old Keene Mill Road,<\/a> Springfield, has again selected Assistance League of Northern Virginia to benefit from purchases at that store of the special Community Bag.\u00a0\u00a0Our chapter will receive $1 for every reusable bag sold during July at the Keene Mill store.\u00a0\u00a0Over the past year, several Giant Food stores have recognized our efforts to reduce food insecurity and have designated our chapter to receive the proceeds from the Bloomin\u2019 4 Good and Community Bag campaigns. Through our Weekend Food for Kids program, we provide bags of nonperishable food each month during the school year to students at Title 1 elementary schools children to ensure they have nourishment on weekends when school-provided meals are not available.\u00a0\u00a0We have provided weekend food bags to students for more than ten years and we currently provide 1680 food bags each month to six schools.
