Kids are back in school in Northern Virginia and we want to make sure that students have what they need to feel good about themselves and be prepared for a new school year.<\/div>\n

Our volunteers recently assembled \u201cstarter packages\u201d of new clothing for the Title 1 elementary schools we support so the schools would be ready on opening day.\u00a0 Each package included an assortment of essential items, like undies and socks, shirts and shorts.\u00a0 A total of 1298 items were provided.\u00a0 School counselors and liaisons were happy to receive the clothing and will distribute the items as needed.\u00a0 Soon, we will be working with each school to determine the specific needs for clothing.<\/p>\n

In addition, we distributed 457 grocery gift cards in August, valued at $9,140, to help struggling families, as we did in June and July.\u00a0 The cards help families when school-provided meals might not be available.<\/p>\n
