Assistance League Collaborates on Holiday Cheer

Members of Assistance League of Orange partnered with other community groups to make the holidays a bit merrier in Orange. For the second year in a row Assistance League was selected as the designated charity for the annual toy drive at Cal Raceway. Since 2010 Charlie and Angie Barnes have run radio-controlled car races at their racetrack on Canal Street behind the Orange mall every other Sunday, and once a year the price of entry is a new toy. The 87 toys collected by Assistance League members at the race on December 18th were shared with Friendly Center, Orange Children & Parents Together, and others. Assistance League members were also busy distributing hundreds of books to school libraries and other service organizations. Over 100 books went to Esplanade Elementary School, where Assisteens® parent Beth Cipres (pictured) is the librarian.
