Orange Blossoms Auxiliary Awards Over $10,000 To Local Elementary Schools In The Orange Unified School District

ORANGE, CA – December 5, 2018 – Today, Orange Blossoms, an auxiliary of Assistance League of Orange, announced the awards of more than $10,000 to elementary schools throughout the Orange Unified School District. Twenty scholarships for the Links to Learning program, ranging from $150 – $1,000, were awarded to the schools. Passed through the Principals, teacher and counselors were invited to submit a scholarship application for an underfunded program or classroom items to enhance the learning experience for children.

Programs supported during the 2018 round of funding ranged from STEM/STEAM programs, flexible classroom seating, physical education equipment, funding supplement for field trips, to technology and software programs.

“The need among our schools is vast” said Orange Blossoms Chairman, Wendi Forrest. “This year we received a record number of worthy applications. The Orange Blossoms are proud to support the community and education of our youth in any way we can. Links to Learning is one way we can help while also supporting the teachers who work endlessly to provide a positive learning environment for all students.”

Awarded Schools Include:
California Elementary, Canyon Rim Elementary, Chapman Hills Elementary, Fairhaven Elementary, Handy Elementary, Imperial Elementary, Lampson Elementary, McPherson Magnet School, Olive Elementary, Panorama Elementary, Prospect Elementary, Serrano Elementary, Sycamore Elementary, Villa Park Elementary and West Orange Elementary.

“The Orange Blossoms are committed to supporting the children of our community and will continue to fund programs that promote their education. The programs funded are integral to students success,” Wendi added.

Background:
The Links to Learning program provides scholarships for educational enrichment to assist OUSD elementary school teachers and counselors. The funds granted through this program may be used for equipment, field trips, or classroom aids approved but not funded by the school district. Projects directly benefit and involve students, and/or improve or increase self-esteem and encourage interdisciplinary instruction, team teaching, or multiple teacher use, multiage structures, and/or cooperative learning experiences.
