Las Primeras is a fundraising auxiliary that supports the philanthropic programs of Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay. It is recognized and well received by the community it serves. Its members reflect a group of dedicated women who set aside time from their families, their work and other obligations to meet the needs of the community. Since 1964, Las Primeras has made generous contributions to the various philanthropic programs of Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay.
How to Join
Prospective new members are welcomed to a Get Acquainted Night. The evening social includes an informational presentation about the goals, rewards and obligations of membership in Las Primeras and Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay. Those interested in pursuing membership are invited to an Orientation Meeting in March, followed by a New Member Ceremony in May. New member dues are $75 for the first year and $60 for each subsequent year. Other financial obligations are the purchase of 3 tickets to the annual fundraiser and a contribution to the silent auction at a value of $50 or more.
New members attend the Las Primeras orientation, tour the chapter house facility, view an orientation video or DVD about National Assistance League®, attend the annual or semi-annual meeting of Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay, and support the Las Primeras fundraisers.
Members attend monthly Las Primeras meetings regularly. Meetings are held at the chapter house on the first Thursday of each month, except July and August. Social starts at 7:00 P.M. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 P.M. No meetings are held on holidays.
