Las Profesionales

Las Profesionales is an auxiliary of the San Pedro-South Bay chapter of National Assistance League®. Chartered in 1995, the auxiliary allows women who are employed, to participate in and support the chapter’s fundraising and philanthropic programs. Meetings and functions are held in the evenings or weekends. Besides supporting the chapter, our philanthropic programs include assault survivor kits and scholarships for forensic nurses, the first to be offered in the United States.

How to Join

Prospective new members are welcomed to a Get Acquainted Night. The evening social includes an informational presentation about the goals, rewards and obligations of membership in Las Profesionales and Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay. Those interested in pursuing membership are invited to an Orientation Meeting in March, followed by a New Member Ceremony in May. For further information about membership in Las Profesionales, please contact (310) 832-8355 or alsp-sb@sbcglobal.net

Besides annual dues of $65 ($105 for new members), the financial obligations are to purchase a ticket to the annual fundraiser, held the first Saturday in June, and to acquire donations of $50 or more for the silent auction.

Membership Requirements

Members are asked to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours a year by supporting the auxiliary and chapter philanthropic programs. Members also volunteer at the chapter’s gift shop, dental center, post office, Weavers and with the Assisteens®.

Each member attends monthly Las Profesionales meetings regularly. Meetings are held at the chapter house on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August. Meetings start at 5:30. No meetings are held on holidays.
