The focus for Assistance League Action Week 2019 was literacy. To fulfill our goal for Action Week, the Victor Valley chapter of Assistance League decided to have a Dr. Seuss book drive to donate books to a few local schools. Along with sharing the new books, members prepared and presented a skit in connection with four Dr. Seuss books. A message from each of these books was featured—this was a huge success!
A total of 348 brand new Dr. Seuss books were collected from our chapter’s members and members of the community. The skit was extremely well received by the school children. We are very proud to have been able to provide a positive message to our local children and to share a collection of very popular books.
Thank you goes out to these members who directly participated in the skit and preparations: Lynn Rastaetter, Kathy Lenhardt, Mary Noel, Rosanne Smith, Cindy Johnson, Margaret Lukehart, Pat Shelby, Karen Post and our honorary member of the skit, Jerome Johnson. A very special thanks goes to Kim Lindsey, who provided the great leadership for this event.
Most importantly, we thank all those that donated their dollars or books to help with the book drive!!!
