So, in the 1930&#8217;s she called on the daughters and granddaughters of Assistance League members to assist in various philanthropic programs.<\/p>\n<p>We are proud to continue to encourage and provide volunteer opportunities for today&#8217;s youth. Assisteens membership is open to young people (boys and girls) in grades 7 -12.\u00a0 The aims of participation are to develop a sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, poise, public speaking and leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for teens who are interested in serving their community through volunteer service and fundraising activities.\u00a0 Assisteens support their own philanthropic\u00a0 programs, as well as the programs of Assistance League of Victor Valley.<\/p>\n<h2>Membership-<\/h2>\n<p>Presently, Assisteens&#8217; membership is open to all students in grades 7 &#8211; 12.\u00a0 Each member will complete a minimum of 30 service hours during the year.\u00a0 Volunteer hours include meetings times, fundraising activities and community service.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_gallery type=&#8221;image_grid&#8221; images=&#8221;13785,13789,13790,13791,13792,13793,13794,13795,13796,13797&#8243; title=&#8221;AMR Toy Drive !!&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Philanthropic Programs &#8211;<\/h2>\n<p>The Assisteens&#8217; philanthropic programs and activities include &#8211;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work in Assistance League Thrift Shop and Operation School Bell.<\/li>\n<li>Prep the grooming kits for Operation School Bell.<\/li>\n<li>Provide Christmas gifts for children in need.<\/li>\n<li>Continue the &#8220;Lets Can-Can&#8221; year long food drive program.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in Teens Helping Teens &#8211; This program allows Assisteens to help teens in need attending high schools in the Victor Valley School Districts&#8217; student\/family centers. This year Assisteens provided 125 hygiene bags, including full-size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, and brush. At the request of the Family Center, Assisteens added much needed socks to each zippered bag given out.<\/li>\n<li>Helping at two &#8220;AMR&#8221; Toy Drive Events in December.<\/li>\n<li>Providing 123 sleeping bags to students in need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=&#8221;image_grid&#8221; images=&#8221;13775,13776,13777,13760,13705,13704&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Fundraising to support these activities &#8211;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Organizing and hold our annual &#8220;Mad Hatter Tea and Fashion Show&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the Chapter&#8217;s Annual Fundraiser by auctioning off their &#8220;Trivia-Thinking Brains&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Additional fundraisers throughout the year assist with membership activities and programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Additional Opportunities<\/h2>\n<p>Membership opportunities include interacting and working together with teens from different schools, holding leadership board positions, letters of recommendation for college applications and an overwhelming good feeling of giving back to their community.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=&#8221;image_grid&#8221; images=&#8221;13782,13781,13780,13784,13783,13808,13811,13810,13809,13814,13815,13816,13817,13818,13819,13820&#8243; title=&#8221;Assisteens!!
