On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Whittier (CA) City Council commended the Assistance League of Whittier for the donation of $8,500 to the Whittier Public Library.  Assistance League of Whittier  was recognized for longstanding dedication to promoting literacy and the love of reading through the summer reading program and bookmobile.

A second commendation was presented to the Assistance League of Whittier  for contributions in support of the Whittier community through programs such as Operation School Bell^® ,  Emergency Dental Care, Legacy of Literacy, Summer Reading program, Scholarships for Single Parents, Operation Holiday, Kids on the Block Dental Puppets, Wee Wardrobe and the Bookmobile..
