Assistance League of Wichita<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Assistance League of Wichita is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is transforming lives and strengthening our community through\u00a0philanthropic programs in Wichita.\u00a0 Member volunteers are dedicated to ongoing support and a long-term presence in the community through hands-on involvement and innovative philanthropic programs.<\/p>\n

The Wichita chapter was\u00a0organized in 1984 with about 30 members, chartered in 1987.\u00a0 Today, there are 120 Assistance League chapters in 26 states with over 23,000 members.\u00a0 In 2014-15, Assistance League chapters served 1.5 million people, returned\u00a0over $38 million to local communities and invested ~3.2 million service hours.<\/p>\n

Assistance League of Wichita volunteers work to make Wichita a better place to live and work through our programs.\u00a0 We encourage you to learn more about our chapter and the many ways you can become involved and make a difference.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Thrift Shop<\/a>\u00a0on Douglas is our main source of funding.\u00a0 The shop is staffed and managed entirely by our member volunteers.\u00a0 Donations are always welcome and are tax deductible.<\/p>\n

Other funding sources include corporate and private foundation grants and individual donations.<\/p>\n

Our Philanthropic Programs<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Operation School Bell<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00ae<\/sup> provides clothing and personal grooming products to students based on need as identified by USD 259 Social Workers.<\/p>\n

Scholarships<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to USD259 graduating seniors who are pursuing a vocational program at Wichita Area Technical College or Butler Community College.<\/p>\n

Bear Hugs<\/strong><\/a><\/span> where new teddy bears, journals, sketchpads, and tote bags are given to child victims of violence.<\/p>\n

Assault Survivor Kits<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00ae<\/sup> where clothing, footwear, and hygiene kits are provided to the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center to be distributed to women, children and men who have been victims of sexual assault.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
