Community Outreach Philanthropic Program Partners with Barnes & Noble

Assistance League of the Bay Area’s Community Outreach philanthropic program recently partnered with Barnes & Noble to provide award-winning children’s books for classrooms and libraries in Title I schools in the Clear Creek, Dickinson, and La Porte Independent School Districts as well as the Mosbacher Odyssey Academy in League City and Galveston Island.

Books purchased from Barnes and Noble, valued at approximately $40,000, include the Texas Bluebonnet Award Books, the Caldecott Medal Honor Books, and the Tejas Star Reading List.

The books will be delivered to the respective campuses in August. One hundred thirty-two (132) second grade classrooms will receive a set of the Caldecott Medal Honor Books, 127 third grade classrooms will receive a set of the Texas Bluebonnet Award Books, and each campus library will receive the Tejas Star Reading List.

Barnes & Noble, after placing and receiving the order, helped Assistance League members by packaging the books by campus and labeling each one with an acknowledgement from the chapter.

We are excited to be a part of a wonderful initiative that promotes the love of reading and captures Assistance League’s Legacy of Literacy. #wechangelives
