Assistance League of the Bay Area Continues Assistance League Legacy of Literacy

Assistance League® of the Bay Area continues Assistance League®‘s Legacy of Literacy initiative, made possible by the generous donation of books by the Kohl’s Baybrook Store. The mission of Assistance League Legacy of Literacy is to place new or gently-used books in the hands of students.

On Thursday, February 15, members of the Operation Support Our Schools Committee, including Chairman Kimberly Barker and Vice Chairman Eileen Ball, arrived at McWhirter Elementary, a campus in Clear Creek ISD. Over 400 books were offered to 261 Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Each student was able to select one or two books to have for their own. The majority of the students in these schools were negatively impacted by Harvey flooding.

Additionally, 7 Pre-kindergarten classes received sets of math and word flash cards.

Since the start of the Assistance League’s Legacy of Literacy over 1500 books have been gifted to 750 area students.
