Barnes & Noble Webster Store Ships Over 1100 Donated Books to Bay Area Chapter

Assistance League® of the Bay Area is thrilled to continue their partnership with Barnes & Noble in Webster.

Their latest contribution to the chapter was through Assistance League Action! Week, an Assistance League® nationwide effort to raise awareness of the importance of promoting childhood literacy and putting books in the hands of children who might not have access to them.

Just prior to Thanksgiving and continuing through Christmas, Barnes and Noble Webster invited shoppers to purchase an additional book and donate it to our organization, in order to allow us to reach as many students as possible. The response was staggering, as over 1150 books were bought and sent to us for all levels of readers.

Assisteens® of the Bay Area and adult chapter members have worked to label these books and they will continue to be distributed at the monthly Operation School Bell® shopping days at area Kohl’s Department Stores and Target on Galveston Island.

A celebration is planned to coincide with the official dates of Action! Week which are February 25 – March 3, 2019.
