Chapter Applauds Partners Addressing Domestic Violence during Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month takes place every October. It evolved from a Day of Unity first observed in October 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect advocates for survivors of abuse across the nation, working to end violence against women and their children.

Assistance League® of the Bay Area is proud to partner with the Bay Area Turning Point shelter, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc., the La Porte Police Department, the League City Police Department, and UTMB Health with our Assault Survivor Kits philanthropic program.

The kit contains clothing and hygiene kits for victims of domestic and sexual assaults whose clothing has been retained by law enforcement as evidence.

Our hope is we help meet some of the immediate needs of individuals victimized by these crimes.
