Assisteens of the Bay Support Children Living in Domestic Abuse Shelter

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence shares on their website 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.

Assisteens® of the Bay Area desire for those young children to feel safe, secure, and to spend time with young adult role models who give them encouragement.

Through a partnership with the Bay Area Turning Point shelter we bring those hopes into reality.

Project Snuggle gifts these young children with fleece blankets created with care by our Assisteens to offer comfort when they enter the facility, often without any other possessions.

Project FAMILY is designed to spend time with residents ages 4-10 monthly where a fun educational activity takes place along with celebrations for those who are anticipating their birthday. During the pandemic, in-person visits have been on pause, but Assisteens continue to stay in touch by providing gift bags of candy and designing crafts and games.
