Snack Attack Packs, the Chapter’s Newest Philanthropy Debuted in Spring 2021

When Assistance League® of the Bay Area first implemented its supplemental food program in 2021, 480 pre-packaged meals were assembled and delivered to the at-risk and homeless populations served by Texas City ISD through a new Snack Attack Packs program. This new program, funded through a donation by the Les Alexander Foundation, was supported by the chapter as a function of the Community Outreach Program. In the second year of operation, it was moved under the auspices of Operation Support Our Schools, where 6,750 meals were delivered to Texas City ISD and our new partner, Deer Park ISD. By the program’s third year, La Porte ISD was added, and 8,553 meals were delivered during that fiscal year. The Snack Attack Pack, now the chapter’s newest philanthropic program, is on track to deliver 9,000 meals during the 2023-2024 school year.

As the newest philanthropy for Assistance League of the Bay Area, this is a joint effort of the chapter members and Assisteens®. One Sunday a month, the members and teens pack 900 meals in approximately 90 minutes! Once packed, the meals are delivered to the three school districts by the delivery team. The snack meals are distributed in various ways according to the needs of the students. Some are consumed at school, while others are discreetly tucked in the student’s backpack to be eaten at home. Either way, these small meals make a big impact on food insecurity.
