Stuart was an avid supporter of Assistance League of the Bay Area with a passion for Operation School Bell® and the Resale Shop. Stuart secured the first Operation School Bell storage unit and dressing facility at no rental cost, no doubt due his persistent nature. Stuart was the “bouncer” at the entrance of the original Resale Shop on the inaugural day of Operation Cinderella, a job he really enjoyed. At the time of Stuart’s death, he was in negotiations to secure the current Resale Shop space. These are just a very small sampling of his love for Assistance League and the community.
Assistance League of the Bay Area’s Board voted the same year to name an award in his honor. The Stuart Williams H.O.P.E. Award, Heroes of Positive Endeavors is an award given to a person, company or other group (who is not a member) for their significant contribution to Assistance League of the Bay Area.
Stuart’s spirit and larger than life personality will be with us always as we put caring and commitment into action.
“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.”
