Assistance League’s Operation Check Hunger Program

Assistance League of Charlotte will provide food at 13 mobile food pantries this year at three CMS schools, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank. Families are identified by school social workers and notified of date and time and, in Covid safe fashion, they drive up to a station in a school parking lot where we place the food items in their vehicles. Food items vary but generally consist of fresh fruits and/or vegetables, a form of protein such as frozen chicken, bread items, sometimes dairy and a box of non-perishables. We typically have 100 or more families participate in each pantry.
