Philanthropic Programs

Operation School Bell®

Thousands of local children are smiling because of Assistance League’s Operation School Bell.  Assistance League of Charlotte, through its Operation School Bell Program (OSB), provides new clothing, mid-year school supplies and hygiene kits for children in need in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). The program’s goal is to enhance self-esteem, promote learning, and encourage regular school attendance

Operation Check Hunger

Assistance League  keeps several in school food pantries filled, sponsors monthly mobile pantry events and sends home hundreds of weekly food backpacks during the school year.  We also make substantial bulk donations of protein rich food to area agencies dedicated to fighting hunger in our community.

Mecklenburg County Teen Court

Assistance League of Charlotte, through its Mecklenburg County Teen Court program, provides an alternative justice system for youthful offenders between the ages of twelve and seventeen. It is designed to provide juveniles with no previous convictions a second chance when they admit their guilt, agree to be tried by a jury of their peers, and take responsibility for their actions. Successful program completion allows the offender to avoid a permanent criminal record.

Our goal is to help children reach their potential regardless of income, and our work with children begins at the elementary level and continues through college. Whether it is summer camps, reading programs, art & music classes or a college degree, we stand by ready to help children achieve their goals.

From time to time we respond to the needs of others  by redirecting our assets to local agencies, who are taxed beyond their capacities.  We are creating community connections through Assistance League Outreach. This program   provides goods and services for the short term needs of the neighbors in our community as well as meeting the long term needs of partnering agencies.
